1976 S.A.M.P.

In 1976 SAMP (S.A.M.P.) acquires Mc Draw in Williamsport MD/USA, later to become SAMP USA. Through its American subsidiary, S.A.M.P. is able to strengthen its presence in North America offering competitive solutions to this market.

1975 Samputensili

In 1975, Samputensili enters the chamfering and deburring machinery market. Its chamfering and deburring machines satisfy the general request for quieter and faster speed gears, which significantly increase in those years.

1974 Samputensili

The 70s are extremely important for Samputensili’s worldwide expansion. In 1974 the company establishes its first subsidiary and production facility Samputensili do Brasil in Jundai (Sao Paulo), Brazil. Through which the South and Latin American markets are analyzed and served. In the same year, Samputensili crosses the Alps for the second time opening a new subsidiary and manufacturing plant: Samputensili France.

The second spin off of SAMP, Sampingranaggi, comes into being in 1973, extending the company’s gear production programme to include bevel gears sets and high precision speed reducers. Before long Sampingranaggi is therefore able to supply both single components and finished speed reducers.

In 1965, S.A.M.P. enters the market of non-ferrous material (copper, aluminum and alloys). The use of these materials is massive in particular in the power and transportation industry. Moreover, these years are marked by the expansion of the home appliance industry market, which uses these materials extensively. The home appliance industry has stringent requirements in terms of reliability, safety and connectivity that all cable manufacturing companies shall comply with. In this scenario, Sampsistemi with its solid experience in the wire drawing sectors starts designing and manufacturing ad hoc wire drawing machineries.

1950 S.A.M.P. Samputensili

While SAMP (S.A.M.P.) consolidates its leader position on the market of the wire drawing machinery, Samputensili starts its geographical expansion with its first commercial office abroad. In 1952, Samputensili opens an office in Germany as a result of the strong demand from the automotive industry of reliable precision gears.

During the Second World War  SAMP (S.A.M.P.) supplies, the Italian air force with precision gears, but the demanding quality requirements forces the Company to produce his own high-precision tools. During these years, the manufacture of shaven and ground cylindrical gears as well as lapped bevel gears continues to expand to support the growing market demand of wire drawing machines. The request for precision and reliability is high, therefore S.A.M.P. decides to start developing its own tool grinding machinery and checking instruments, manufacturing equipment that set the standard at those times. In 1949, S.A.M.P. establishes Samputensili, an ad hoc structure and trademark through which to trade these products.

Birth of S.A.M.P.

1936 Gaetano Maccaferri SAMP

In 1936 Gaetano Maccaferri started out with a small workshop for the production of wire machinery calling his company S.A.M.P. which translates from the Italian as “Company for Precision Metalworking”. The starting production is mainly focused on steel wire drawing machinery, looms for weaving metallic meshes and general mechanical parts. However, since it is difficult to find good quality gears on the market at that time, the young company starts manufacturing its own gears.
